Codex is OpenAI's coding agent, and for most people it is already paid for: it comes with ChatGPT Plus and above. That makes it the cheapest way into a serious coding agent if you already use ChatGPT, but the limits are counted in a shared credit pool that is hard to predict.

- Is Codex free?
- There is limited Codex access on the ChatGPT Free and Go plans. Full CLI, IDE and cloud-agent use with the current models starts with ChatGPT Plus.
- What does Codex Pro 5x versus 20x mean?
- OpenAI's Codex pricing page lists two Pro rate-limit levels, five or twenty times the Plus limits. The features are the same; only the usage ceiling changes.
- Can a team buy Codex seats?
- Yes. Codex is included in ChatGPT Business, which is billed per user with a two-user minimum and draws on a shared workspace credit pool.
