What AI is good at
AI can put legal wording into plain language, point out sections about payment, cancellation and liability and suggest questions to ask the other side. That makes you a better-prepared reader.
What it can miss
AI can overlook a clause, misread a term or ignore the law where you live. It can sound sure when it is wrong. It does not take responsibility if you rely on it.
How to use it safely
Use AI to understand and to prepare questions. For a large, long or unusual agreement, ask a lawyer. Do not paste confidential information you are not allowed to share. Keep the signed copy somewhere safe.
A short checklist before you sign
Do you know who the parties are and what each must do? Are the price, dates and payment terms clear? What happens if either side wants to stop, and how much notice is needed? Who owns the work and the customer data? What are you liable for, and is there a cap? Which law applies and where would a dispute be handled? Have you read the parts in small print? If any answer is unclear, ask the other side to explain in writing, and ask a lawyer before you sign.
AI tools worth a look for the draft
