Should AI send your cold emails?

No. Unasked messages put your reputation and your email account at risk. Use AI for research and drafts. Choose who to contact and send each message yourself.

Why this stays with you

Cold outreach is the one job where a mistake lands on strangers. A badly aimed or repeated message can get you marked as spam, blocked by your email provider or in trouble under the rules in your country. Some AI products send outreach with no review. We think that is the wrong way round.

How AI can help safely

AI can help you describe the kind of customer you want, summarise what a company does from its own website and draft a short, honest first message. You pick each person, check the facts and edit the message to sound like you.

Keep it honest and small

Say who you are and why you are writing. Give an easy way to say no. Send a few good messages, not a crowd. Rules differ by country, so read yours or ask a professional. Better still, try a warm introduction from someone who knows you.

A short checklist before you send one

Can you say why you picked this person in one sentence? Did you check their own website for facts rather than guess? Does your message say who you are and what you offer in the first lines? Is there a plain way to say no? Are you sending from an address you are happy to keep? Keep a list of people who said no and never write to them again. Send only a few at a time and watch the replies before you send more. When in doubt, ask for an introduction instead.

Common questions

Is AI cold email allowed?

Rules depend on your country and on whom you write to. Read the rules where your recipients live, or ask a professional. A human reading each message is a sensible minimum.

Will AI outreach get my domain blocked?

Bulk or poorly aimed messages are a known way to damage a sending reputation. Keep volume low and relevant.

What works better than cold email?

Asking happy customers for introductions, local groups and useful posts often work better for small businesses.
